Ask the learners to take notes of those urban challenges mentioned in the video that they can meet/ experience also in their cities.
Ask them to work in groups and come up with 5 suggestions on how to make their cities sustainable. Ask them to present their ideas on a flipchart.
Ask them to present their ideas to the other groups. Ask them to give constructive feedback to the ideas of the other groups.
Ask students to vote for the 10 best ideas and to consider sharing these ideas with their local municipality/ representatives.
Note:
Alternatively, if done with interns or employers, the question can be: “What do you like/ dislike about your company, in terms of sustainability aspects?” Depending on what they want to work on, the students must have a minimum knowledge of the respective area.
Questions for Reflections
- Was it difficult to define challenges?
- Was it difficult to come up with ideas on sustainable cities?
- What has been the most difficult to present your ideas or provide constructive feedback on others’ ideas?
- How would you present your ideas to local policy makers?
