Design Your Own Planet

Learning Outcomes
Description
In this assignment, you will use your creativity and critical thinking skills to design your own planet by including at least the 8 aspects highlighted below in bold.
Students will make decisions about various aspects of their planet, including beliefs and values, sustainability, trade, employment, and government. This exercise will help them understand the complexities of society and governance.
Students go through 7 steps, answering these questions:
- What identity does your planet have? What culture and/or beleifs/ values?
- What is the technology, digital structure like?
- How is health handled, welfare state?
- Who lives there, what do they look like, how do they interact with each other?
- How is the economic structure?
- What roles do residents have? What laws are there?
- What does the planet look like? How are climate and environment?
Questions for Reflections
- How does the chosen government system impact the sustainability of the planet?
- How does the value system influence the sustainability of yoru planet?
- In what ways did your planet’s approach to sustainability differ from or resemble practices on Earth and why so?
- What was the most challenging aspect of designing your planet, and how did you overcome it?
- What did you learn about the complexity of creating a society from scratch, considering factors like governance, culture, and sustainability?
- How might the decisions you made for your fictional planet relate to real-world issues and challenges?
