Deadline Crunch

Duration

40 minutes

Learning Outcomes

After completing this activity trainees/learners will understand the significance of soft skills in both entrepreneurial ventures and traditional workplace settings. Students will engage in activities that help them develop these crucial skills.

Description

Groups discuss the scenario presented to them.

Their task is to identify which soft skills would be most beneficial in each scenario.

They select relevant soft skills cards and prepare to justify their choices (the older the participants in the group are, the more soft skills the trainer can use).

Each group presents their scenario and the soft skills they chose. They explain why these skills are important in their given scenario.

Other groups can ask questions or offer additional insights.

Conclude by highlighting key takeaways.

Emphasise how these skills are critical for future career success.

Encourage students to think about how they can develop these soft skills in their daily lives and studies.

Scenario Scripts

1. Your team is working on a major project that is crucial for the company. The deadline is tight, and the team is behind schedule. Stress levels are high, and there’s a noticeable tension among team members. Some team members are not contributing as much as others, leading to frustration and potential conflict. The team leader is struggling to keep everyone motivated and on track.

2. The company you work for has decided to implement a new technology system that will significantly change daily operations. This change has caused unease among employees, as they are required to learn new skills and adapt to new processes. Some employees are resistant to the change, worried about their ability to adapt, while others are excited about the new opportunities it presents.
