The Networking Challenge
Duration
60 minutes
Learning Outcomes
Description
- Scenario Draw (2 minutes per round):
Each team draws a scenario card at random.
They have 1 minute to discuss and prepare a personal introduction tailored to that scenario (write it down). Repeat this for different scenarios/rounds.
- The Introduction Challenge (3 minutes per team):
One member from each team comes forward and delivers their personal introduction based on the drawn scenario.
The introduction should be within a 30-60 second time limit.
- Scoring (1 minute per introduction):
After each introduction, the rest of the class scores the introduction based on clarity, relevance to the scenario, engagement, and creativity.
Use a scale of 1-5 for each category, with 5 being the highest.
- Feedback (2 minutes per introduction):
Provide brief, constructive feedback to each participant, focusing on strengths and areas for improvement.
- Reflection and Discussion (5 minutes):
Discuss what made certain introductions stand out.
Highlight the importance of adapting the introduction to different scenarios.
Summarise the importance of effective personal introductions in networking. Trainer could possibly have a brief training session on how to summarise and present another person effectively.
Encourage students to apply these skills in real-life networking situations.
