In Your Shoes

20 minutes
In Your Shoes
Learning Outcomes

This activity develops the ability to understand other people’s points of view.

Description

Seat students in a circle.

Ask them to take off their shoes and pass them to the person on their right who then puts them on. This is a way of symbolising the expression “put yourself in someone else’s shoes”.

Next, the facilitator asks each student a question. Students have to imagine they’re the person whose shoes they’re wearing and reply accordingly.

For example, if the facilitator asks a student what their favourite colour is the student has to imagine what the favourite colour of the student whose shoes they’re wearing is and reply accordingly.
